Today’s(Tuesday, March 18, 2008) New York Times has an article by ERIC SCHMITTand THOM SHANKER. The article indicates that the United States may try a different strategy against terrorists. It is called a “COLD WAR” strategy. This strategy is supposed to be the one that won the cold war for America. Using the COLD WAR strategy means the Bush team will not advance into a country with guns blazing and NUKES at the ready.
Now it looks like the neocons will settle for a less costly COLD WAR. Less costly in terms of lives and less costly in terms of dollars. Had they done this long ago, it is likely that BEAR STERNS would still be a thriving business and it is likely that millions of Americans who have lost their homes, would still have a place they could call home. The lives lost during the HOT Iraqi war cannot be brought back. The dollars lost are now being converted into a poor American economy.
It took a country “going down the tubes” to prove to the neocons that America could not afford their “management” style. Much of America, long ago gave up on the Bush team’s management style and unfortunately much of America has given up on the House of Representatives doing its job of impeachment oversight of the Bush team. Currently economic RECESSION AND a possible forerunner to an economic DEPRESSION appears to be the only economic conditions that the Bush team respects.
