Gets huge boost from blogosphere and negative attack ads, cutting into Obama’s lead
August 27, 2008 (Computerworld) While much of the Web has focused this week on Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has quietly boosted his online audience to close in on the lead long held by his rival.
Redwood City, Calif.-based Atrributor, which tracks which Web sites post content from its clients, captured the key issues and speeches posted on the official campaign Web sites of Obama and McCain and then tracked the distribution of each candidate’s words across 25 billion Web pages to estimate the audience reach, the company noted.
During the two weeks leading up to the convention, McCain’s words and ads surged through the blogosphere, which had long been Obama’s stronghold, the report noted. Almost 350 new bloggers picked up McCain’s messages during the period, 30% more than added Obama’s content during the period, the report said…
This blogger saw and commented on the McCain ads on “Capitol Hill Blue”. This blogger is not a supporter of Senator McCain. This blogger believes that after eight years of service to America, a presidential candidate ought to be able to tell America what his party has done for America. Understandably Senator McCain might be reluctant to talk about the achievments of BIG OIL under the Bush administration. And with a string of train-wrecks for “accomplishments”, Senator McCain has very little in the positive department – to talk about.
This blogger, after seven posts on Capitol Hill Blue, was blocked from further posting on Capitol Hill Blue… the better to celebrate John McCain along with his “Iranian” attack ad.
So, ok America, your economy is the pits. You are financing two wars and preparing for others. You are getting ready to finance another country’s military in order to place missiles “next door to Russia”. Your Commander-In-Chief is blowing up Afghanistan’s civilians along with, maybe, a terrorist or two. And Senator McCain wants you to focus on something OTHER THAN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE NEOCONS. The neocons have, to their credit, a ton of train wreck performances with no hints of improvement. And Senator McCain wants to distract you. If the neocons could pull this one off, it is likely they would be “high fiving” on the White House lawn.
