(CNN) – A new national poll appears to validate the adage that time heals all wounds, at least when it comes to two former presidents of the United States.

Sixty percent of Americans questioned in a CNN-Opinion Research Corp. survey released Wednesday morning say they approve of how George H.W. Bush handled his job as president, and 64 percent give a thumbs up to former President Carter.

Those numbers are about double the approval ratings each had when he was voted out of office after one term….

George H.W. Bush

Ex-President George H.W. Bush did a masterful job of dealing with Saddam Hussein and Kuwait. That should have provided a “template” for George W. Bush and his views on Iraq. But there is no visible indication that it did.

Jimmy Carter

And no greater humanitarian than Ex-President Carter walked the corridors of the White House in a long, long time. In a diplomatic situation, one could sit across a negotiating table from President Carter and feel sure that he did not harbor a natural hostility to any of the negotiating diplomats.

Jimmy Carter, caring for America, had to speak out on President George W. Bush’s calamitous “management” of America. The Bush team declared Mr. Carter to be IRRELEVANT. If that be the case, then most of voting America must be considered “IRRELEVANT”.

Perhaps the ONE “ATTA-BOY” that could be linked to the current Bush team neocons is the late- blooming realization of how GOOD those past two presidents were.
