A book entitled, “Greedy Bastards” was reviewed for USA TODAY by Steve Weinberg. Mr. Weinberg was critical of the book.
Mr. Weinberg said:
“[...]Those who believe the United States of Americais working pretty well, thank you, and in any case is a far better place to reside than anywhere else will probably find most of Ratigan’s thinking objectionable”.[...]
Can America’s economy be worse? Of course it can. Are there countries that are worse off than America? Of course there are. Are Americans thinking of fleeing the country for a more stable economy? Not likely. Then what is the problem? And if Mr. Weinberg’s class is doing pretty good then – can there be a problem? Was the author of that book trying to be a “do-gooder”? Do-gooders left the scene after the eloquent days of the liberal press were replaced by the days of the neocon press.
Is America’s economy bad?
Well… sure the economy is bad – but it could be worse. Let’s wait until it gets worse. In other words lets wait until I LOOSE MY JOB!!! There is no need to strain a voice in support of someone else’s job loss. That’s only a recession at the most. Let’s wait until we get a GREAT DEPRESSION ie. Lets wait until I loose my job. Only then should people become extreme activists. My job loss would be a serious condition.
