On the wars side, Iraq and Syria were attacked by foreign countries. The United Nations was a passive observer to acts of war. The neocons attacked Iraq and Israel successfully attacked Syria. Israel is now making noises about attacking Iran. And the United Nations hasn’t said a mumbling word.
Onward Christian Soldiers marching off to war. The song certainly has meaning today.
The neocons and their Middle East Sidekick are now taking their turns as evil guys on the world scene. Adolf Hitler is no longer with us. Attacking Iran is now talk around the “dinner table”. Evil is becoming common-place. No NAZI threat is in evidence.
Who will save the world from neocons and their Middle East side-kick – the United Nations? The United Nations today is a reminder of the League of Nations of bygone years. After the League of Nations was no longer a factor on the world scene, it went away. Is the United Nations a factor on the world scene?
The problem with Iran goes back to 1946. Iran voted against the United Nations Plan to “share” Palestine with the Jews who were being moved out of Europe. It was the same results that Adolf Hitler desired but the mode of operation was different. Israel was “INVENTED” in 1948. And it killed and maimed Arabs as it spread out from the territory bequeathed by the United Nations. Israel had no trouble killing Arabs because it learned from the best. And its weapons were the best in the West.
Iran sees no controls on the land expansion of “INVENTED” Israel. And the United Nations, the cause of the problem, is not likely the one to solve the problem. So Iran was left to its own devices.
Now answer me this:
Why didn’t the United Nations divide Russia or China while providing land space for the European Jews who were being removed from Europe?
Of course, neither Russia nor China could have been a target – and for more than one reason. A decisive reason, however, is military strength. Both countries can militarily “kick booty”. And aggressors still seem to take the military power of their intended victim into consideration. Iran does not want to be a victim of Israel’s expansion plans. But the United Nations, the cause of the problem, does not want Iran to be able to protect itself – even with a single nuclear weapon while the United Nations either does not know or does not tell about the nuclear capability of Israel. Nuclear proliferation is OK for one but not for the other.
Is it time for the United Nations to “ride off into the sunset”? When the good that the United Nations has done is weighed against the bad that the United Nations’ has done – the defunct League of Nations comes to mind.
