Another common heritage of mankind is under attack by an American neocon. A neocon, in search of material for a political campaign, wants the moon as a gift for the neocons’ political base. Here is what the United Nations says about the moon:
[...]‘Outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means’.[...]
—United Nations, OUTER SPACE TREATY ARTICLE 2
An earlier news account tells how pre-Tea Party neocons had designs on outer space. And this news source described as BOLD President Bush’s attempted grab of outer space:
[...] George Bush has staked out a bold claim to the final frontier, asserting vigorously America’s right to deny access to space to any adversary hostile to US interests, it emerged yesterday.[...]

China Test Sparks Arms Race Fears
[...] Last week, according to US officials, China managed to destroy one of its own aging weather satellites using a medium-range ballistic missile.
The satellite was some 500 miles (800km) above the earth.
At the very least, it represents the first significant escalation in the space weapons race in 20 years.[...]
Arctic Seabed Belongs to Russia
[...] Moscow has mounted several expeditions recently – and risked tensions with rivals in August by planting a flag in the seabed below the North Pole. The Arctic is thought to be rich in oil, gas and mineral reserves.[...]
In 1970, United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2749, the Declaration of Principles Governing the Seabed and Ocean Floor, was adopted by 108 states (including the United States) and stated that the deep seabed should be preserved for peaceful purposes and is the “Common Heritage of Mankind.”[7]
Neocons have had a ton of problems just trying to manage the local, the state, the national and the international domains. Now they want to screw-up the moon. It is pitiful that they can’t find something positive in their past twenty-some-odd year performance on planet earth to TELL AMERICA. But neocons don’t talk about their past performance. And the press doesn’t ask.
