If you don’t play by the rules, there is no game. Whether the attempted game is political or social, the rules matter. It is difficult to see trustworthiness in human beings who can’t be trusted to follow the rules they have sworn to uphold.
When the rule breaker – works at persuading others to break the rules, there can develop a relationship among the rule breakers that threatens the legal, ethical and moral constraints placed on the system as a whole and encourages others to “not play by the rules”.
